Re: If a Begin requires a Beginner...

I study fruit fly olfaction (smell). I know, it sounds too good to be true. Oddly enough I had a use for it earlier to describe not one but TWO of my points on broader subjects (homosexuality and evolution). Never thought that would happen. I am an agnostic, but I believe that everybody is agnostic;...

Why isn't God Obvious?

This should be an easy one for you guys to field, but it drives me crazy. If there is one true God, who wants us all to be with Him in heaven, why isn't it obvious A) That he exists B) who he is C) what he wants us to do? this is not a question of free will, mind you. I don't wonder why God doesn't ...

Re: The “Gay Gene” again

Sorry, I sincerely apologize... trying to be funny. Not very well. But anyway I think it IS a valid point that the reason that scientists can use things like fruit flies as model organisms for human disease and/or pyschological states is due to evolutionary theory.

A few questions for you guys...

Let me first say that I apologize if I come on too strong... subtlely is not one of my strong suits. I am an agnostic (gasp!) scientist (boo!) who believes strongly in evolution (hiss!). However believe me when I say I would like nothing so much as a proof that God exists and ______ is the religion ...

Re: If a Begin requires a Beginner...

Most scientists do not deny the existence of God out of hand (and I am one). Being probably the most reasonable people in the world, they take the most reasonable response, which is that unless God decides to ride down from Heaven in a fiery chariot then we cannot know whether God exists or not, and...

This is ridiculous. Can anybody point me to that tree where I can see the whole world? Maybe then I can see the DNA "whirlwind"

Re: The “Gay Gene” again

http://60minutes.yahoo.com/segment/68/gay_or_straight One wonders why this gene hasn't died off yet? Since gays don't usually reproduce, you would think that the number of homosexuals would decrease from generation to generation, not increase. Up next, they need to find a gene for bisexuality, beas...

Re:

Just to add to this, even though it is obviously off topic (sorry J316). Evolutionary theory also predicts more complexity over time, more intelligent decision making processes etc... If a dinosaur, for a example a raptor was both more complex and more intelligent when compared to other predators o...

Re: the case against evolution

I am new to this discussion, but this post was so ridiculous that I had to stop and comment on it. I am an actual biologist, and will be receiving my Ph. D this year. I thought I should comment on as many of these points as I could: 1. to state the obvious, the Bible does not use or refer to the evo...
