Re: Pagan Mythology

I am currently reading the Epic of Gilgamesh, and enjoying it. Is it wrong for believers to enjoy Pagan mythology? My argument for it not being wrong is that the writers of the Bible, particularly the Old Testament (Tanakh to me) would use imagery from Pagan mythology to make theological points. Is...

Re: Dr. Michael Heiser

My thoughts on Heiser: I don't buy his stuff regarding the Nachash, it's curse far too much fits an actual snake. I agree with him on Deut 32:8 and Psalm 82, but disagree with him on Genesis 6. I explain my views here: https://riderontheclouds.wordpress.com/2018/04/06/what-i-think-the-nephilim-reall...

Re: Pagan Mythology

You do need to have your head in the sand to ignore the parallels between Psalm 74 and Isaiah 27 and the Baal cycle. I'm sorry

Re: Alternatives to ASOIAF/GOT

I have enjoyed reading ASOIAF and watching GOT for some time now. I can assure you that I've been watching it for the fascinating political intrigue, and gritty realism above... the other stuff. But the other stuff is what concerns me. I've become more religious as of late, and now find it hard to ...

Re: John H. Walton said what about concordism?

I personally have to agree with Walton, I haven't read the article, but from what I've seen of Genesis 1, scientific accuracy is not the aim of the game. Light isn't a source independent from the sun, the earth didn't rise out of the sea and animals didn't 'come forth' from the ground. Science stat...

Re: Please Introduce Yourself Here

Hi,

I'm currently an OT believer who is working towards belief in Christ (why I am a Theistic Evolutionist who is not a Christian), if you are intrigued about my theological views.

Are violent video games sinful?

I think we can safely say Jesus would probably not play Grand Theft Auto. But are violent (15-18) video games always sinful? I would argue depictions violence are not in themselves sinful, otherwise the Bible would have to be forbidden. I also don't see anything too objectionable in games like Skyri...
