Re: The God Delusion

"“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalo...

Re: Why do 'Christians' find it hard to believe that God made earth and all that is in it in 6 days

The immense amount of scientific evidence showing the Earth to be made over billions of years rather than a short period lead me to think that way. Unfortunately, I find most YEC arguments rather unconvincing.

Re: Suicide

K, as someone with OCD myself I can relate to your post in some way. There certainly is an over-reliance on drugs and chemicals being pumped into sufferer's bodies with little understanding of what they will actually do to the person. I haven't taken any medication and don't plan to - fortunately I ...

Re: How do you view heaven?

I'll look into it. Is it based on Scripture support for heaven or simply all guessing and wishful thinking?

Re: Debate between Richard Dawkins and John Lennox - Has Science Buried God?

I agree with a lot of what you say. Lennox unfortunately didn't seem on point for this particular debate. I felt the agent argument could have been developed much further and Dawkins could have been shown up good and proper. I felt it very rude of Dawkins to start off almost slandering Lennox at the...

Debate between Richard Dawkins and John Lennox - Has Science Buried God?

An interesting debate I came across that was recently uploaded. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCBq15MaYuU I think both Dawkins and Lennox raise interesting points but Dawkins' main point seems to be "the simplest explanation is best," and to him, the simplest explanation is t...

Re: Who is your favourite apologist and why?

Definitely John Lennox. I've read some of his books and seen his debates/lectures and he uses excellent logic and language to convey his points and also throwing in a bit of humour. I recently started watching the debate between him and atheist messiah Richard Dawkins. It didn't take Dawkins long to...

How do you view heaven?

People's interpretation of heaven tend to vary greatly. As far as I am aware, there is no solid consensus on what heaven could be like. The Bible doesn't seem to be all that forthcoming with information regarding our next life. What do you picture when you think of heaven? Personally, I would want a...

Re: Arranged marriages and unconvential methods of dating

Perhaps there's an added feeling of "duty" in an arranged marriage. The couple will try harder to make the relationship work seeing as they have known about it and planned it since they were infants.

Re: Attitudes to life and death?

Are you saying you doubt God's existence? What helped you accept life as you think it is? Things the therapist brought to your attention? I don't think it's possible to say for certain God is there, much like it isn't possible to say God isn't there. So yes, to a certain extent, I doubt God's exist...

Re: Please Introduce Yourself Here

Thought I should make an official introduction... 22 year old male, real name Tom (though lots of people call me Tommy. I like both. 8)) I started investigating Christianity around the turn of the year. I'm from the UK also just like Storyteller (even if she does spell "apologise" with a '...

Attitudes to life and death?

I am wondering what people here think of regarding life and death. Everyone knows the two certainties in life - death and taxes - and thinking of one's demise is enough to bring any body down. It's a topic that has bothered me greatly the past year or so. It upsets me greatly that, one day, this won...
