Re: Neanderthal Art 110,000 Years Old?

Why couldn't we say the ancestor of us and Neanderthals were Adam and Eve? Homo sapiens heilderbergensis (maybe antecessor) were the ancestor of both subspecies. From my perspective the answer to that question is pretty simple... The Genesis 5 and 11 genealogies (Septuagint version), Genesis 4. Mes...

Re: Neanderthal Art 110,000 Years Old?

DB: mankind's spiritual genesis began with Yes - the line from Adam to Christ. But what of those that may have been created far before - per the Heiser speculation? It certainly doesn't necessitate that ALL of mankind were homo sapiens sapiens - does it? I'm content to let anthropologists argue abo...

Re: Neanderthal Art 110,000 Years Old?

One question I have is, do we too narrowly, genetically, define the range of humanity. I don't think so... here's why... My conversations back and forth with "the kid" have led me to the following conclusions. 1. At the time the Bible was written, every human being on the planet was speci...

Re: Is coming to Jesus and being saved simple?

I definitely agree a child can be saved and its that simple. But if its so simple that you just have to say a prayer then why arent more people in heaven... because I think we all know that although salvation is free, Jesus wants all of us. And to be on the throne of our lives oppose to us ruling o...

Re: Do Reformed Christians Need to Embrace Six-Day Creation?

My understanding of the Reformed Mantra goes something like...
"By Grace Alone
Through Faith Alone
In Christ Alone"

I don't see anything about "24 Hours Alone" in there...
or in Genesis 1 either... for that matter :)

Re: John H. Walton said what about concordism?

Which tells me it is entirely possible for God to have inspired the writing of truths that were simultaneously applicable to correcting creation myths absorbed in Egypt, so that the ancient audience had an accurate understanding but not necessarily a scientific one - and yet written in such a way t...

Re: John H. Walton said what about concordism?

IMO, the whole point of understanding that the various books and letters and stories and poems of the bible were written FOR us BUT NOT TO us is to understand the culture context of the writings. It isn't that the HS didn't know that we would be reading these texts 2-3000 years after, it is that th...

Re: MAECs

Among those who believe that God created the earth there is disagreement as to how and when he did so. Some believe he created it in six literal days, just as the Bible says. They are known as young earth creationists or YECs. Others believe he created the earth gradually over millions of years and...

Re: John H. Walton said what about concordism?

I think I've shared my opinion on this before, but I don't think concordism vs ancient cosmology is necessarily an "either/or" proposition. I think Walton and Heiser can be absolutely correct about the meaning of Genesis 1 within the context of ancient cosmology to the original reader/list...

I doubt that hes involve in that sort of stuff. His worst attribute is that he doesnt speak against his creepy boss. I agree, I'm sure those 'rumors' are nothing more than fabrications. I'm unaware of any information from any credible source to corroborate those rumors. I do appreciate the stand th...

Re: How were the Chaldeans in Hab 1:5-6?

That is pretty good, DBowling! Could also the Chaldeans also refer to their demonic religion and sorcery - occult arts too? I don't see any explicit references to the occult in the description of the Chaldeans in Hab 1. The context of Hab 1 appears to refer to an overwhelming military force. Howeve...

I've read the first three volumes... all three are great!
I haven't started on Paul and the Faithfulness of God yet.

I'm currently in the middle of Surprised by Hope by Wright.

Wright is my favorite current theologian. :D
